On December 28, the Miao New Year celebrations at the Dehang Scenic Area farming cultural park in Jishou City began with an intoxicating song about the lanmen wine ritual. Nearly 1,000 tourists from Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia joined local residents in the festivities.

The jubilant celebrations were attended by local people, Chinese and foreign tourists, calligraphers, photography enthusiasts, and young people of the Miao ethnic group. Participants ground soybean to make bean curd; madeciba—a delicious round-shaped glutinous rice cake; watched intangible cultural heritage performances; experienced Miao cross-stitching, also known asshusha(counted-thread stitch); and, immersed themselves in dragon and lion dances and Miao drum dance. Traditional food such as cured meat andcibaand drinks like tea and wine were served. Afterwards, a live-action show was staged at Dehang Miao Village, showcasing the wedding customs of the Miao ethnic group. The audiences appreciated beautiful Miao songs while savoring authentic Miao food. In thelanmenwine ritual, Miao girls wearing silver crowns sang Miao songs and served the guests with ceramic wine pots in hand. They stood in a line and poured the wine in turn until the guest drank one cup of local wine.

The Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is scheduled to host nearly 100 activities in four parts to celebrate the New Year.

The Culture, Tourism, Radio, and Television Bureau of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture has worked with a major online travel agency Tongcheng and a Hunan-based cultural tourism company to issue coupons worth 13 million CNY, aiming to stimulate tourist consumption in Xiangxi. From December 28, 2024 to February 28, 2025, tourists can obtain a package gift by scanning a QR code, or searching "Xiangxi [湘西]", "Mysterious Xiangxi [神秘湘西]", or "Celebrate New Year in Mysterious Xiangxi [神秘湘西過大年]" on the Tongcheng app or its WeChat mini-program. There are 50,000 such package gifts in total.
